Or traded in. Sadly the Tacoma was too, but new work trucks are a good thing. I’m just glad I’ll never have to deal with that piece of junk again. The replacement for the two are a 2018 Ram 3500 Cummins 4X4 and 2018 Ram 1500 Quad Cab V6. Hello 800+ ft lbs of torque. And less torque than the Fiesta. Scout for your time.

We have a 2016 Cummins 3500 4x4 at work. (And also a 2500) It is a very nice truck and has been quite reliable. It does ride like shit unloaded (no surprise). We put aftermarket air springs on it. Controller on the dash and the compressor hides up on a frame rail. Improved things quite a bit.

Hey Scout, hey girl.
She’s so cute.
She’s OPPO royalty now.
You’ll never know how happy I am to see Scout happy and loved.

We already have an ‘06 and ‘08, and they’ve been decent. The ‘06 just coughed out it’s turbo and has had some electrical issues, but it’s always got us back to the office(even if just barely). The ‘08 admittedly has been more of a problem child. It’s: Lost it’s brakes and power steering, blew it’s trans, went through an alternator, and now has some electrical issues, but unlike the Duramax it hasn’t been unrepairable. It also has a 36 gallon fuel tank compared to the joke of a 16 gallon in the Duraturd(yes, really, 16).

We still have an ‘07 in the fleet. The transmission is in its death throws, but it won’t totally die so we haven’t had it replaced yet. Care and feeding hasn’t been cheap (injectors were a big sting), but our experience is like yours - it hasn’t stranded us anywhere... just starts running like crap and taking a trip to the shop. I don’t know about the newer Duramax’s. We had either an ‘02 or ‘03 2500 4x4 Duramax for a while years ago and it was a piece of shit that stranded us many times. After that it is has been all Ram.

You really can’t go wrong with a Cummins.

I miss our ‘02 6MT dually the most. That thing was absolutely unstoppable. But dumbasses kept borking the transmission so my boss sold it.

How inept does someone have to be to kill an NV5600?

To this day it is still a mystery. Both times it happened with no witnesses - only the driver in the truck. Unloaded you can put it in 2nd at a stop and just let your foot off the clutch without touching the gas (diesel?) pedal and it will hook up. Besides the long throws it’s the easiest manual in the world to drive.
